Semester 2 mid semester break is already over and now I finally decided its time to update this blog.

It has been a very very busy mid semester break, so busy that I did not have much chance to game at all. The break I believe was so tiring as compared to a normal uni week. Boohoo.

Ok, its not exactly the start of Sem 2. Its in fact the 3rd week of Sem2. Yes this past few week have been extremely busy, and I anticipate the future weeks to be as busy if not more.

Ok!

Let me er, share with you some interesting stuff I’m doing or done .

Focus group- recommend changes to UniMelb prospectus
Negotiation Research – pretend to be a diplomat and negotiate for an hour or so about issues between two countries
Student Entrepreneur week – In a team of all commerce student (except me), to come out with an idea to create more value out of water bottles.( any ideas are welcomed)
Open Day Guide- UniMelb Open Day volunteer, walk around and help ppl i think.

And recent chunted achievements

Finish Physics lab in 1 and half hour!

Beat Starcraft AI(note:starcraft one, not II)

And other failures including and not limited to:

One hour for a math question
failure to turn up at workshop
missed a lecture than cost me a good grade

What’s people? The exams is over and I finally found time to update my zombie blog. Lets take a look on how I fared in my various exams. Its my first time taking an exam in university therefore I’m not pretty used to it yet.

Physic 1: Advanced

Problem faced: Many materials to cover, and some are impossibly hard to comprehend, lack of sleep

Solution: Drink red bull(not sure how that helps understanding the material but yea)

Accelerated Mathematics 1:

Problem: Lack of adequate practice, thus lack in confidence.

Solution: Pray hard.

Engineering System Designs 1

Problem : could not wake up, not sure what to study

Solution: Eat two lolipops during exam to make sure I stayed awake. form study group.

German Beginners Language 1A

Problem: Do not know what to read

Solution: Read everything (yea right).

But who wants to listen about boring exams when you can talk about the World Cup?

Tshabalala, but the commentator called him Tshabalalalalala.

Exams and World Cup is definitely not a good mix, cause it turns people into zombies.

haha wrong kind of football but its a zombie!

Frankly this world cup is pretty boring, everyone is playing ten man behind the ball and parking the bus in front of the goal. its boring football seeing people defend in such a way, but who could blame them? Its a winning tactic after all.

Guten Tag to my readers who may or may not exist.

My blog would seem rather dead if I didn’t update it. Thus I am compelled to update to show, I am currently alive and not dying for mysterious reason( exams).

It is Week 12 for people not in Uni Melb, a.k.a. the last week of the semester. And it also signifies that exams is a mere two weeks away. However, let me not dampen your mood by recounting the horror stories of physics and mathematics.

Last week, for our final assignment for engineering, we had to run a Lego Mindstorm Robot through a course. It had to complete the course under 30 seconds to get full marks.

Thats right. Its a race where the robot destroys competitors and race to the end.

But alas, the university has an ethic policy which forbids violence so we have to downgrade our ultimate-scorpion-killer-robot to this harmless looking one.

Despite developing a flawless program for the robot, it simply would not follow instructions but prefer to do the robot dance, the jump around senselessly dance .

Yeap. Something similar to the above picture but not as cool. After a thorough investigation and despite the help of 2 tutors (they have masters in engineering mind you), the problem could not be detected. It was not until late in the workshop that the problem was discovered to be a stuck wheel. Once the wheel was unstuck, the robot was invincible. Cruising a neck breaking speed of 2cm a second, it finished the course in an awesome lap of 28 seconds. Hurrah! It beats the record set by Sebastian Vettel and also past champions such as Lewis Hamilton , Michael Schumacher etc.. for they have never raced a Lego Mindstorm robot in Uni Melb thus they DNF.(go google if you have no idea what is DNF)

Now I would like to turn your minds to the world of physics. Its blows mind and I was pretty sure everyone’s jaw were stuck to the ground thanks to the latest lecture regarding relativity.

The man behind it all. Einstein.

He have solved so many problems that were once inconceivable.

Problem 1:

We are poor. We have a house which is only 1m long but our bed is 2m long. What to do ?

Answer: Accelerate the bed to near the speed of light, and the bed will contract in length, thus you can fit it in your house. (assuming bed does not burn from friction travelling at near speed of light, house not moving, the people only wants to be on the bed for a few nanoseconds before bed flies out of the house again)

Problem 2:

They say women can live longer than man. I want to live longer than my wife. What can I do?

Answer:
Go on a space ship and fly to 80% of speed of light and return. Moving clock are always slower, so you age slowly in comparison to your wife, thus you will outlive her.

Problem 3:

I am a huge (insert artist/band name here) fan/friend(for kuo wei,) , and I want to be the first person to hear their new single playing on the radio. What can I do?

Answer:

Its easy! Even if you stand equal distance from the speaker/radio/singers' mouth, you can still be the number eins fan by changing your point of reference. IF, you have a father who owns a spaceship that travels at close to the speed of light, he will see you hearing the music first compare to the other losers who don’t have such a father. The other loser might think they heard it the same time as you, but your father on the spaceship will see you hearing it first! Awesome isn’t it?

If you were confused/lost/astounded/still confused/no idea what I am blabbering about, its totally fine! Its just the 3 principle of Einstein’s Special Relativity.

Moving objects are shorter
Moving clocks are slower
Simultaneity is relative.

Ok that would be all.

Disclaimer: Not all diagrams are true to the original situation and the the questions were not posed by the Uni Melb lecturers, rather a alternative idea proposed by me.

One hectic period of the semester is over! Just to be replaced by another one but, the previous hectic period was swell ! =)

Basically, I was involved in a play call Rotate 270° by Melbourne Uni’s Chinese Theatre Group . I was part of the backstage crew.. and it was great fun. despite the fact that the play was in Cantonese , and people there are mainly hongkies that speak only cantonese… I’m proud to say my cantonese improved, I made awesome friends and had a great lot of fun.

According to many, being backstage is the easiest job of all, and I don’t think I was going to dispute that until the final show. But still, let me tell you what we basically do. We turn up, wear black, wait for cue, carry stuff out on cue, come back, wait for next cue, go out and take stuff back,…. and so on and so forth. Basically, you got no screen time because its always dark when you go out. So yea. no one sees you =( And the waiting part is extremely boring.. We had to either:

keep quiet and lone
play ipod/iphone/blackberry/PSP
play cards (illegal, we got caught on first day and never played again)
talk to each other in hush tones

So yeap. Basically that was all you can do. And you wouldn’t be interested in watching the play cause, you have watch it a million times. But in a review ( yes a review by a proper reviewer) we the backstage were described as “industrious” . YAY!

But bump out was another fun time to be in the backstage. We destroyed the sets. Karate kicking the frames.. running through screens and etc. All fun stuff.

Its already the end of week 6 which means I’ve been in uni for half a sem.(Stating the obvious but who cares).

Accelerated math as usual have a freaking hard assignment which everyone is struggling to do ( its due tomorrow and i have two more questions). Super sien kao kao n KBKB.

Physics is a gonna for I have very little friends taking it ( no one to ask help from) So hahah gone case adi that assignment.

German and ESD are still fine (although Matlab is getting harder and harder)

Now on to the more delightful Easter Break, Dad came =)

Went to Dandenong ..

Its a mountain for those who do not know .

And naturally, great food .

This could be one of the more meaningful easter I have ever had.

It was an interesting beginning to the holidays, beginning with Good Friday. It was a good Friday =)

We had group discussions in the University….

Then came saturday where i went to Tzu Ching Summer Camp in Box Hill. It was a meaningful and quite fun too ( contrary to what people think that a Buddhist camp would be all about chanting), however I believe I ate the most mushroom in my life in the 3 days. Aih

Wohoo! Easter break is finally here. Uni which pace is so fast, it = the speed of light. Haha its good to get a break and I believe everyone in uni needs it.

Good Friday, is not good for us i guess. Shops are not open, (including Safeway *gasps*) and basically the city feels so empty. I’m sure at night it will become lively again, just because its a friday night . oh well.

Here’s a quick breakdown to what i’ve done in uni so far in the 5 weeks.

1. Completed two math assignments

2. Completed 4 reflective journals, evaluated 6 of them.

3.Did 4 vocab German test (of the first which i spectacularly created a fiasco)

4. Went for a criminology lecture (boring. sorry kelleynne)

5. Locked in a library at night

There. five things I have done. Sounds nice. Don’t we all love uni. The experience of waking up at 9am when ur class starts at 9.05am.The rush, the adrenaline pumping. Everyday. Yay.

Oh and basically Earth Hour is just such a gimmick. No one really switched off their lights. I went to a friends place which had a great view, but geez.. there was no difference between Earth Hour and not Earth Hour. I guess its an epic fail.

Still, Its once again time to destress. And our next venue is the Old Engineering Building in Melbourne University. Sounds cool eh?

When uni stresses people out…

“Assignment so many can kill leh”

“Lecture talk what I also don’t know, tutor blabber I also don’t know…”

This are sentences ( or something similar in meaning) that are frequently heard among the 1st year university students ( major Melbourne universities were represented, i.e., Monash, Melbourne n RMIT).

So in a grand effort to reduce stress, a huge LAN night was organized.

Yes. Epic win.

there was even a freaking desktop!

And the games began… however,

Full HD SNSD on a 24 inch screen was awesome! the super addictive dota was beaten by the vids of the korean singer/dancers. The game was stopped approximately for 20 mins to view SNSD.

Super step to reduce stress…. =D

Yeap. Brilliant isn’t it?

Well having the blackberry is the reason I get to use the internet at home. Its was a great deal when I got it. for $49 you get 3GB of internet (for large files and tethering). unlimited internet and email on the blackberry itself and unlimited blackberry messaging(this is cool. if u have one, gimme ur Pin so we can message each other irrespective of location).

Well university haha is rather disappointing. I feel so exhausted everyday and I’m already behind time on my work. It is totally unfair to science students as we hav easily double the hours of a normal art/commerce students. And my math ain’t getting any easier and so is my physics. This result in a lack of life. Serious lack.

Oh well . Will update soon again haha =)

I’m sorry that I have been unable to update the blog in such a long long time. I still have no internet yet at home and the estimated internet arrival time is scheduled to be by the end of this month.

Well uni has started and its been quite boring frankly. Met a few people but yea. I have freaking 24 contact hours a week! that's like double a commerce student, 1.5 times a architecture student (depends) and and more by 3 hours of an average science/engineering student. Plus class starts EVERYDAY at 9am.

But ah well. Thats uni life. I currently have no picture of my new place yet but i do have some pictures of the food me and my housemate cooked, and yes they are edible.

I know its a pokemon table but yea. At that time we had no dining table/I wanted to eat while watching TV.

The room door. Hehe

This week is moomba week and well haha it was quite empty yesterday so it was quite sad. Hopefully today will be much better with the fireworks and all.

Tomorrow at this time, I would be on the plane to Down Under. Can’t say I’m really looking forward this time, I have to cook myself and well do alot of cleaning myself. Mainly the cooking freaks me out. Armed with minimal cooking lessons from mom and a recipe book, I have to feed myself for the coming year. Yay.

CNY was nice, though von wasn’t here to celebrate with us. It was quite the rush too. Oh well. I left my camera’s battery at home thus I am without any photos. Sorry

Packing however is going badly. I only have 20kg! its horrible.. I have to squeeze so many stuff and omit many others. The torture.

Time flies. A mere two more weeks or so and I will be back in Melbourne.

Not really ready to go back yet. After a week or so of non stop dota dota dota ( thanks to those a levels ppl having exam), I think I would be able to break free from this “cycle”. Not that its not fun, but I can do that in Melbourne. And it is a tad lifeless la..

Short Penang Trip

Was in Penang for 3 days 2 night. Arrived on Xmas day. Played mahjong. Ate great food. Played more mahjong. Met cousins. Did some shopping.

But , the main purpose of the trip was however a Tzu Chi End of the Year Prayer Thingy.

yeap.. a huge prayer thingy in a Stadium…

Cool huh? And the best part was I was a volunteer to help people. I was Bus Leader 2 , or 二. I was never really briefed and well being out of state was naturally lost, not to mention my poor Hokkien, I wasn’t a really good 车长. But everything was so funny that it was a great experience. And I met Chieng Yee there too! haha

By the time we were done, it was round 2.30am. We proceeded for mamak and ended up playing mahjong the whole night before leaving at 6 am for KL…

Rooadddd trip to A’Famosa! Haha the best part is before we even left KL we were lost! Sort of. Because we didn’t listen to the GPS and we did it brought us to the most jammed area..

But still in the end we were back on track and were heading for A’Famosa.

Had lunch in Melaka which the chicken rice (not the rice balls) contained MUSHROOMS! OMG THE HORROR! TERRIFYING! But the cendol was nice! Melaka is not cooling at all..

After checking in, we rushed to the water world! Spent the whole afternoon there.. but it rained quite heavily , luckily it quickly subsided…

then after the waterworld, we went back only to discover that… only ONE bathroom was usable!

played some cards than headed off to melaka for dinner.. super long journey though…

and after dinner is classified information which released may threaten the safety of the world =P

The next day was filled with people trying to get up and searching the R&R for places to seat to enjoy the Chicken Rice Balls..

Gold Coast!

A week at home!

Yeap.. time flies and its already the first week I had been home.

Lets recap…

4th December – hardcore SAT paper all the way… although in the end i only finished like what, one sample paper =P

5th December – SAT Exams! woah. super hard the english.. GOodbye USA!… some other time i guess… sigh.. then went out wit Jem, KayHwa, Yin Yee YinLing , TzeZheong and TzeYing to 1U. Watch the incredibly boring movie “Mulan”.. there's no mushu and my only entertainment was the crap me n jem said.

6th December – Breakfast with parents then went out with Jem and Mok. Played a bit of dota at Mok’s place. Then headed to TzeZheong’s place for a game of snooker.. BLOODY long…the table is too huge and the holes too small…

7th December – YinYee and YinLing’s Birthday! Karaoke party at Redbox.. fun! Met my old school mate who are now in the same college as the twins.. what a small world eh? Was reminded how bad KTM is.. even compared with Melb’s train.. zzz

8th December- Rest day! Got specs fixed thats all.

9th December – Kim’s party. Futsal was Great. Met loads of WMS people.. hahah Realised how um, in to Sue Vern and Pik Kuan are into L4D2.. LOL.. Mok FFK again..( i dont have the pics yet.. sorry)

and today.. doing uni stuff again.. sien

That’s right… my journey of college in Melbourne, Australia is ending. Today was the final paper and Valedictory (graduation ceremony).

Hell yea.. it was great.. too bad for those people who went home early *alan*. Nice seeing so many of the friends I had made over the past 10 months.

I’ll miss you all, I definitely cherish the year.

Till then Melbourne, next year 2010 17 Feb shall we meet again

Firstly, non stop gaming till 6am, then basketball, then bath then go shopping till 11am. Online check in, and head off to airport. And sleep on the plane.. Booyea!

College life has officially ended.

No more lectures. No more tutorials. The only thing left of college is that of exams and the valedictory.

I can see Malaysia on the horizon. But still when i leave, i am sure i leave with a heavy heart.

But back to the topic at hand.. drama exams are over.. I'm sad its over actually. Had so much fun rehearsing and stuff although its very time consuming , but hey it was good fun!

So let me introduce you my drama group!

The guy on the top left is Anthony from Hong Kong, to the right is Chenying from China. The girl in the middle is Sin Ie and the other girl is Melissa. Both of them are from Singapore.

Waking up in Vegas..

The Trinity Ball’s theme was “What happens in Vegas” .. but there wasn’t really any casino feel there… other than a few balloons here and there but oh well.

FYI, taking tram to the ball is way cooler than.. taxi.. taxi is so normal

the food was frankly, BAD. Chicken was horrible. And there were only soft drink served, and I suspect they are those Homebrand colas… it tasted weird..

the food was also described as.. Airplane food.. oh well 64 bucks down the drain

As the dinner was a 3 course meal, the in between time was for dancing and performances.. the music was so so.. performance was quite good (some) … the dancing got high for a moment, esp during Jaiho!

But the last dance was definitely more meaningful then the rest i guess, its a slow dance.. then suddenly.. music stop after 2 songs. ThE END.. everyone leave now.. WTH! Best part of it was it was raining!.. imagine everyone dress up all getting wet.. tht sucks..

October is coming to an end.. which means exams are just around the corner.

2 more weeks of class… the year just zooms by .. but I guess I am still the same.. still struggling to understand Physics =.=

Anyway.. at least the Gift Committee work is all done by now.. I am just left with the shopping part, which hopefully will be easy.

I like the Gift Committee, though the constant nagging to get some work done is totally crazy.. and i hate it alot! I MEAN ALOT! ( hopefully the person I'm referring does not read this, Jem shush)

its kinda incredible to think that the 5 of us came out with an event for 100 ++ people.. although they were many hiccups then i would like.. it turn out fine.. but THANKS TO THOSE WHO HELPED!! really appreciated it..

HOWEVER, Term 4 is haywire. I can’t seem to balance all the things. Homework. Revision. Drama Practices Preparation for SAT. Preparation for HOI. Dota. Sports.TV Shows. Life. sigh

So sacrifices have to be made heheh.. though not always the right one. but still at least i survived..

Tomorrow, is Flare Dance concert! haha i must admit i’m looking forward to it! Go Daryl!! haha n of course Aaron and I lyn too.. It always seem my friday night is always.. packed. Last week was BBQ night, tmrw is the dance concert and next week is the ball..

Mid Autumn Festival!

It has been a while since the mid autumn festival, but I only got the pictures today, hence the lateness of the update. Anyway here goes !

We, ( namely Albert House boarders) decided that we should make lanterns to commemorate the super cool cultural festival!..

Let me tell you the story of making the lantern.

The last holiday I will spend at Albert House is coming to an end. Sad. College is starting next week. Exam results will be out next week. The joy.The horror. Life =D

So some updates about the happening or (non-happening) of my holiday!

First up, the purposeless walking around Melbourne with Justin !

Next up, the intense gaming sessions that followed!

Thanks to Alan for his kopitiam!!! Much appreciated in removing lag. And no, Alan dont call yourself dota king, you dont deserve it.

Then it was.. um.. enjoying a meal cook by my friends! I did not join them for all their squash/badminton/volleyball because i could not wake up..

But i got a new motherboard, palmrest and harddrive for free!! (laptop went down you see)

Tuesday was the trip to the beach.. the place to be!!

Drama is over!!!

Drama was quite fun but I'm glad its over. However, with that over means assignment due dates are close and so are exams. then i can look forward to a 2 week break. I would post the video online but I find my drama a drab boring. (10 minutes of talking out of 12 mins!!) But to just give you a brief outline, its a basically a bank job with an inside man. And I was the inspector, who so happens to be named Inspector Gadget.

Other than that, the week has being pretty much uneventful, other than watching others drama (very fun), play football ( third week in a row, but still awesome) and some gift committee work ( no comment) ..

And a recent event at Albert House has happened to the great delight of its occupant! to give you a hint, its related to this :

Oh have any of you played the Sims 3? It so addictive! Its hilarious too!

Handing up of HOI is such a great thing no? Don’t need to think about the French Revolution, how many RPM they were up to ? ( ok that was a lame joke). The handing in of the essay was just pure bliss. So was the activities in store after it.

Firstly, friday night.

The Puppet by Chinese Music Group of Melbourne University

Pardon me for the low quality pictures. They were taken using my phone camera.

The Puppets is a musical, and a rather interesting want at that. Overall the story was quite good, I quite enjoyed it. I liked the way how the put the time sequence together. Real neat. However, the music instruments at time was just too loud that it covers the singing of the people. A real pity. And as Jayden mentioned, the transition time is well a bit lagging. But its good.

( HAHA im so artistic now, i can critic plays!)

Then the next day, Drama practice. Although its part of school work, I always find Drama one of the more interesting class. And working together with my drama group is quite fun albeit a bit on the slow side ( hahah sorry if any of you all read this, but i doubt you will).

Our drama is about cops and robber, and an inside job. Hopefully it will turn out good, fingers crossed .

AND.. the highlight of the week, and probably of the year too.

CARLTON VS MELBOURNE

(FYI, this is a footy game, footy is aussie version of football, sort of like rugby but with a few differences).

YEA!

no prizes for guessing which team I support. =D

Look at the odds, before it was even worse, melbourne’s odd was 10 dollars.

All of us, however the picture was taken by the opposite team fan, hence the poor quality of the picture

Outside the stadium

Well Carlton thumped Melbourne 157 to 96 in the end. Fairly one sided with its moment though.

Bicycle kicks, intense moments, shouting, excellent atmosphere made it a great game to watch. The stadium was pretty cool too.Although it was obvious there weren’t any other Asians there though. I want to go to the MCG next. For the night game. FOR THE GRAND FINALS! YEAH!

If anyone is bored, i definitely recommend going to watch a AFL game. Its awesome awesome awesome! And, support Carlton!

Just another ordinary Sunday…

Melbourne University held its open day, but the talks were pretty much the same stuff that I had heard before. Basically, there was nothing new really much to learn about, other than a bit more details on philosophy as a major.

Well, definitely the day for me had yet to come. Nevertheless, there was of course freebies to be gathered.. Yay!*

a new “eco friendly” bag, a free drink and more brochures to be read. Brilliant*.

Somehow, despite all of the information provided, the choice is still hard one to make.

The amount of brochures I had been reading since I landed in Melbourne. Not to mention others that I had threw away. Somehow it is great that others have a fixed dream, ambition since they were young, they need not be so confused. No matter their dream is to be a doctor or to be an artist, an ambition is still better than none. ( Being a monk does not count , for that is a long term plan, not a career plan)

Well leaving aside my worries for some other time, for next week promises to be a great week. HOI will be done and over by then ( though I am actually done with it), there would be a theatre show on Friday night, Footy on Saturday night and possibly karaoke on Sunday. A much better weekend I hope. Certainly looking forward to it =D

In the mean time, I would have to on a strict internet plan, I will only cut down my internet usage, for something weird has happened to my computer, it sucks up internet like a sponge does to water. I have yet to find the errant program yet, but anyone who can help, your help is appreciated (not window updates or any updates for the record).

About a week ago, Trinity College had its social nite for the Feb main intake. It was pretty interesting.. though i didn get to meet anybody new.. its more like excuse for relaxing n takin the minds of assignments and homeworks…

Harbour Town – Ghost Town

Harbour town was promoted as the happening place in Melbourne. Part of Docklands, suppose to be some super high end place.. so on yann kang’s birthday we decided we shud go visit Harbour town. They have a theme park which has a ice skating ring.. sounds cool right?

Yes. 2 week just flew by like that. Even though i was running out of ideas of things to do in Melbourne. But yeap.. college is starting real soon. Results will be out , more homework and the intense walking schedule =.= Quite a few people are back already, with two new faces.

yeap… we people being inspired by kung fu mahjong, thus play mahjong for the delight of it. We are hoping to film a mahjong flim soon, so stay in touch!

then after sessions of intense mahjonging… we head to our secret room

yes.. there is a gaming room in Albert House, and within this innocent lookin door, is the den of several gamers who had been sucked out of their lives

yeaap.. Albert House is so Malaysian, that they have a Cyber Cafe here too..

Otherwise the holidays are spend on books movie and library

Becoming of a cultural person

Art is very beautiful isn’t it?

Therefore what better way to admire it, than visiting the National Gallery of Victoria, to have a glimpse on the beautiful art on display rite? Surely there is no better way to spend my holidays.

B4 i go about raving on the excellent gallery, i would like to give a brief recap on what was happening in the past few days of my holidays

10 hours of sleep
finished maths holiday homework( on the first day, yay)
play hours of mahjong
play dota
read 3 books..

quite an accomplishment no? im running out of fresh idea what to do,, so if you have any recommendations, i welcome them with open arms.

Anyway back to my trip to the NGV, five of us civilised human being ( Jayden, Matthew, Kar Hao , Xing Yao n me) went there.

yay! Thats where i stay wohoo! Melbourne is world number 1 ! thats an achievement!

But im glad i didnt contribute to that, hopefully never. May those who did have a speedy recovery.

wohoo yay yay! this is the start of winter u noe! the worst is not yet here. Melbourne winters are suppose to be cold but not below 0. But with such a wonderful start to this winter, who knows, Melbourne might just snow this year. Its hailing in this morning, maybe the next morning too, who knows?

So for your information, I have a holiday coming up soon, and for ur further info, im am not a cold tolerant person ( sick adi just as winter arrived), a ticket back home to Msia (and back to Melb) would be a great remedy for this problem! So if anyone wants to see their son/grandson/nephew/cousin/friend asap please contact Yi Siang to arrange possible transport back home. Thanks

Well now the tedious bit is over, i shall recap wat happen on this beautiful day from 12.00am

At 12 am, i was brought down to the living hall where my friends were there and a bread cake was there too. Apparently it was Uncle Andrew’s birthday too.

So .. presenting the bread cake…

well yea.. its basically bread and whip cream and it was delicious!

My sis came over and we had lunch together and she gave me a cake. It was delicious!

Haha and i basically was at home working the next day( exams soon) until Ambrose Matthew n Edwin ask me to go out for tea at Melb Central. Shopped a bit.. then when i came bak.. I was truly surprised to recieve another cake and a birthday card!

hahah CHEESEcake.. super nice…

Then after dinner, the gift committee ( jojo jinny Aaron) + Top went out wif me for.. CAKE haha.. we got hot choc n small cakes n sat in the park n talk.

And on the next day, me n alan took a trip down to Crown ( a casino ) to .. have fish and chips. Then we had tea in Fed Square where we witnessed another of the many demonstration/ protest in Melbourne.. this time.. it was a mass of Indian protesters.. against racism .. we were lucky we weren't there when the protest turned ugly.

A Day of Kindness and a bit of madness

Well last saturday was a amazing day.

It first started of with a visit to tzu zhi.. a Buddhist organization in box hill.

We had lunch,(vegetarian) and tour around their building. The vegetarian meal was good! It was a delightful break from the bland and boring albert house food im getting..

Then a bit of madness crept in. They were handing out pledge cards for swine flu stuff, and we few friends thought it would be cool to.. go vegetarian for a week!

ok thts not me.. but u get the point

im actually preaching the goodness of being vegetarian..

But now… me n my friends, we are kinda suffering the consequence of our niceness..

As u noe, a hostel isn’t really the best place for vegetarians, and oh ho ho, we been eating vege for days.. no meat .. pure vege.

How long i can keep up with this schedule, i have no idea. But according to Albert house, this week we are getting steak.. Wohoo.. of all times, this week when i go vegetarian.

Therefore i encourage everyone to go vegetarian! ITS GOOD FOR YOU AND THE ENVIRONMENT!

I now come back to the amazing saturday i had. We went to an old folks home ( ang moh version). And its super nice compared to the msian wan. They reli had all those bingo tables and stuff with lifts and all.. Looks pretty good… so remember if u reli reli have no choice but to go to an old folks home.. choose australia

Anyway, we went to visit the UEC (Under extensive care) old people. These are the old people whose average age are around 85 and are in need of serious help. I and Michelle( someone i met in Tzu Zhi who is currently working) were assigned to an old lady name Nessie (nickname, forgot real name liao) . She was rather non-responsive at the start and has short term memory. Though in the end she did sing along with us . It was real sad to leave her as she was saying “ Come bak soon, come bak”

Emotional.. really it was…

And now we come to the end of this post, i will dedicate this post to my friend Mok Ving Chiong, who decided he needed someone to blog about him..

thats right, thats him.

We were in the same primary and seconday school, but i din reli noe him until form 1, which he sat in front of me. And the rest is history. This Taylors College SAM boy who is a crazy fan of Tottenham Hatspurs ( lousy team btw) has an obsession with jelly and jellies.

Witnessing a crime…

Today, i witness a crime that was happening … and luckily it was stopped.. the story is as such

in the afternoon, where people are crammed in the store.. buyin stuff.. this suspicious high skl kid was attempting to walk out from the store , b4 the cashier ask him to stop..

he stopped. the cashier accused him of stealin and ask him to take it out. The guy played coy, emptyin his pocket and accusin the cashier of suspectin him he put the stuff he told in his pant…

then a lady who also worked there came out… reached under his jacket and pulled out….

…..

….

.. the guy just cursed and ran away.. not really fast .. the shopkeepers weren’t even bothered to chase him.. weird…

I understand Timtam is really good, but was it necessary to steal?

And why didn’t apprehend him and turn him in? Don’t they know that such people will later turn out to be the super huge robber that robs banks?

Amazing.

From term holiday to now

Sorry for the super lack of updates…… so i shall make up for the lost time ….

1st Week after my term holiday

Results time! did fairly ok.. met up with friends i haven’t seen for the whole break.. there were new people to meet too.. the April Accelerated Intake had around 30 new students. Sorry no pictures of them and all.. but there was one notable person..

He is a new student

He opens the door for everyone and bow and bows and bows and bows and bows and bows….

A Japanese guy seeing him do that, went up to him and said “ oh my culture! I must bow too” and starts bowing to him too..

And the second day of the week one was Jayden’s birthday! some picture

wohoo..

and the weeks that follow has been more work work work..

it was great that we get to play badminton and football..

and football was excellent in particular. playing against people from Japan, UAE,Bahrain Singapore is really a different thing from playing at home.

while badminton was great fun too.. just more relaxing but still fun nonetheless.

In other related unrelated news.. I have been selected to join the “Gifted “ Students Committee..

Its a student committee for ‘gifted’ students.. everyone there has some supernatural ability or not..

There are four of us.. me Aaron Jojo and Jinny. Funny thing.. we are all Malaysians.

In fact, it seems Malaysians are the most enthusiastic in participating in the committee. There are maybe the most students from China, but out of all three committees, they only have a representative, which is odd.. and even more peculiar, only a grand total of two applied.

movin past that, after exams so muc stress energy were released that we decided to shop ( window) at LV and Gucci.! haha it mus hav been weird to see some funny lookin bunch of ppl in such a exp shop..

and when ur bored n broke n cant afford a Wii, the perfect solution is go to the game shop to play it! we played multiplayer for around 1 hour hehe

such is a life of a college student in Melbourne….

my friend n I decided we should visit the fire display in Crown Casino Hotel , and thus also the arcade and all tht is there..

afterthoughts: i have been in melbourne for two months and i can say that im happy tht i could come here.. i met many different ppl, n studyin here is so muc different from bak in msia.. i hav come upon various ideas i wud not get bak home..there is more to the world then msia, and seein how hard other ppl from various country work and how behind i am in terms of maths when compared to the china chinese makes ppl feel that being gud n competent in maths isnt gud enuf.. we gotta strive n b betta.. and to consider some of them are ppl who din made it to local uni bak home and come here and still miles ahead of me, u will imagine how gud those ppl who made it into their uni… further more this year is a critical juncture, for it determines whether i get into uni n this yr i decide which bachelor i wud like to take.. until now i hav no idea wat i wan to do nex year.. which isnt really tht far away…its safe to say this year will shape my life.. science? arts? environments? this question still revolves n i hope i can make a solid choice asap…

Arrival of Exams and F1

Exams are coming and a test has passed! I had a drama test, and it was a solo mime. Everything went not to bad, and it was quite fun watchin other ppl perform too.

F1 Melbourne was las sunday and it was quite a event. The day b4 the main race, there was a huge party/ nite out at lygon. Ppl were paradin their Ferraris! It was quite a eye feast. There was more then 20 Ferraris there tht nite.

its mus b quite disappointing for the ferrari fans, brawn totally pawned them… The sounds of the cars cud b heard from quite far away durin race day.

Baaad Day

today was jus plain crap. the weather is hot and dry, my experiment was lousy plus even 7 eleven cheated me of my slurpee!

Anyway its not all bad.. it seems the recession is over

this pictures are a series of a guy proposin to his gf using smokes emitted by plane written in the sky. No doubt veri touchin n stuff, but for the plane to write all those, it needed at least 15 minutes, and by tht time the smoke would hav disappear. It was suppose to b “Jojo marry me?” but at the end u only see “ mrry me?” which is kinda funny.

Well for the bad day, my second physic experiment turn up crap. I shall not mention names, but Wupo reli made my day. Our experiment was 3 hours long and only when there was 30 minutes left she told us our first graph (mos important graph) was wrong. Naturally me n my partner rushed to finish it until my physic tutor told us wat Wupo told was impossible, even olympic runners cant achieve tht. Thankyou WUPO! it was embarassin, our other partner had to do all the other work. As a result of Wupo super skills, i had to change every readin coz ours was terribly off,

And after the exp, it was such a hot day me n my fren went for this buy 1 free 1 slurpee coupon thing, but the guy b4 us mysteriously press the defrost button, and TADA, my slurpee was all liquid n bubbles, by the time we jus walk out of the store, the bubbles were gone and we were left with only 3 quarters of the slurpee.

Ah well

on a happier note, i got the interview!

Debate!

I’m back!

I have not much work so i decided i shall blog while I can. Today was the second meeting of debate club and we had practice debate today. Real different from what I seen back in Malaysia.

The topic was… “prostitution should be illegalize”

FYI, prostitution is legal in Australia and as a student coming from Malaysia, this isn’t a topic we would debate on and plus the best part of it I was on the negative or opposition. It was quite a challenge to come up with points cause you only got around 20 minutes to prepare and well you have to change your mindset.

But.. we won!

Spring was in my group btw.

Pretty happy about it, and after that the Debate Club had its commencement dinner, at a Nepalese restaurant. It was pretty nice , you get to meet a lot of new people, esp angmohs considering the lack of angmohs at trinity. Its a good way to meet people you would normally never meet.

Sorry for the long absence!

I was sick therefore unfit to blog!

Now, returning to my life in melbourne. I was sick!.. am sick.. hopefully not sick by tomorrow. It’s just a minor cold and cough, nothing serious.

Now to some more serious topics.. clubs!

The last three clubs are Melb Uni clubs so you get to mix around uni students and learn alot. This is the actual time you get to meet angmoh, not more asians.

Next, Moomba Festival just went and past! I didn’t get to go to the festival proper because i had to visit my sister and aunty keng but i just realise cats are pretty cool. I did get to go and view the fireworks tho. The festival is like a huge fun fair. U get to watch people do stupid stuff. ie. jump into the river wif ridiculous costumes.

Tomorrow i’m having dinner with the debating society! I hope its going to be nice… its 20 dollars.. it better be worth it.

For those unfamiliar with trinity, i shall briefly intro how it works

Every subject has a lecture and a tutorial, and each class is around 1 n a half hour long. Lecture are huge class numbering to a 100 while tutorials are around 15. There is only 4 periods a day, and i’m a lucky guy, from Monday to Wednesday and Friday i have no classes at 9am so class start for me on those days at 11am. So i can pretty much sleep in everyday but risk losing out on breakfast. But the buildings are so far apart.. its like around a few km apart.

College is a lot of work, you can don’t do your work ( no one checks it for maths at least) but soon enough you will be lagging behind the class and the lectures! Lectures for maths normally, is so unclear you have to practice to get what he was rambling on for the 1 n half hour or so.

Beach Trip

last… Saturday .. most of the boarders in albert house took a trip to the beach. St Kilda Beach. The beach is like no other Malaysian beach coz the wind is strong n the wave are very rough. There were alot of ppl having a sun tan there and there were also PDA by.. ppl there too.

In other unimportant and unrelated event, i and my friend decided to go to the toilet and we missed the tram back home. He decided to walk back because his ticket was with another friend while i took the tram back. But in the end, he went on the tram and we were back safe and sound.

Sovereign Hill

Orientation in trinity.. is super long.. lyk veri long…. 3 weeks.. which includes a excursion to Sovereign Hill… which is a former gold mine town… in Ballarat, which is well north of Melbourne.

The journey is sooo long… and it was hot .. and cold at the same time coz the sun is out and wind was cold lyk crap. Melbourne sun is ultra hot, thanks to the super UV rays, hit ur skin can cause pain and lastly cancer.

I live in albert house.. how cool is tht? its the HAPPENING PLACE =)... load of ppl here who are very muc fun and crazy alike.. so first up.. my room... which is pretty huge for a person.. but no windows, and only a skylight plus a ventilator... My room... that was the first day.. so pretty neat still hehe
